Lanecia's News Answers

How often do you read the newspaper (in either print or online) or watch the news?

-I read the news paper on the weekends mainly Sunday because that’s when new haven register delivers it to my house. And if I didn’t read the news paper during the weekend then I’ll go on news channel 8’s website for the latest news.

How often do you encounter a news item that contains unfamiliar references that hinder your interest in or understanding of the story?

-Anything I hear on the news or read on the computer I’ve heard allot but there can be sometimes where I’ll hear something that I’ve never thought I would hear before in my live.

When you lack background knowledge for a news story, do you tend to try to find out more or stop reading or watching the story?
-It depends what the story is about and if I am in interested in the thing I am reading.

Do you ever look up information when you’re reading or watching a news story? If so, what resources do you use?
-I use Google or sometimes news channel 8 website.

What, if anything – kinds of features in newspapers and on newspaper Web sites, school activities, and so on – would encourage you to follow the news more closely?

-If  they showed us the news in school then many kids will watch it when they go home.
