Topsy was a circus elephant that lived and performed on Coney island's Luna Park. The years Topsy lived on the island she killed three people and for the crime she committed she was fed carrots with 460 grams of Potassium Cyanide before being electrocuted with 6,600 volts. In 1944 a blaze burned down Luna Park and was reffered as "Topsy's Revenge".
The reason of killing Topsy was because she killed 3 people. I would sy that they did the right thing because when a animal kills someone it should be put down.
This is sooo sad. Who would kill an elephant let alone "Electrocute." an elephant that is an "harmless" creature. This is worst than what they use to do to the elephants when they use to "hang" them. R.I.P Topsy
I think Thomas Edison killed Topsy. He was the one that suggested to use electrocution. Topsy was killed because she killed three people. I dont think they should have killed Topsy, they should have let her go out into the wild.
They killed topsy because she killed 3 people. But one of these people was a horrible trainer who abused topsy so im kinda on the fence if she should have died or not. They could have let her out in the wild or something.
The reason for electrecuting Topsy was because since hanging the elephant was deemed "unnacceptable" by the ASPCA, they had to figure out another more humane way to do it. Electricuting the elephant was suggested by Thomas Edison.
Even though I did not see this part of the movie, I know that the elephant was electricuted. After reading others comments I believe that the elepjant was killed due to killing three people. The hanging of an elephant would be a very diffciult thing to accomplish due to the weight and height of the animal. By electrifying the elephant it was a quick and easy way to end the life of a violent animal.

Topsy was put down after killing 3 people.I dont think they should have put topsy down because they had it in a circus where he cant live freely in an open environment like an elephant should.
I think it was wrong to kill the elephant they should have let it free if they felt threatened it was going to kill someone else.....beside it was mistreated by one of its owners and its a natural thing for animals to turn or get wild when they get mistreated.

ithink it was not nessarary to shock the elephant ithink they should of used a more human method like a lethal injection it would of been more nessasary becuase getting shocked is very pain full for the animal
I don't think that it was a very god idea to electrocute the elephant because it caused the animal a lot of pain, and was unnecessary. because the elephant was just in a panic from having so many people surround it, and instead of killing it they should've just released it in to the wild.

I believe that they could've simply put her to sleep but as far as killing her that horrifically was just uncalled for. Everything deserves respect, from a person to an animal. I don’t think that was the best way to go about killing Topsy.
