Class Work 3/28/12:

The feature film that can be compared to the article is Waiting for Superman, the significance is that it talks about the education reform that is going on in the city of New Haven. It tells another side of the issues of education that many people do not know. The coverage of the type of news they received is equal since they told of about 4 people that get into the schools that they wanted, and many more that did not get into the schools they wanted to. The effect is that you are seeing both sides of the topic the good and bad sides of the lottery. Yes, it can because when I go the letter from the city of New Haven I was happy I got into one of my choices so I wouldn't have to go to West Haven High but I was disappointed that I didn't get into one of my top 2 choices.

  1. I selected this post because it relates to the documentary film “Waiting for Superman” and to the New Haven Independent article “9,333 Compete for 2,677 Magnet Seats”. It talks about how the Magnet Schools' Lottery affects the possibility of entering to one of your top choice Magnet schools, and how Annalys made a great personal connection to the Magnet Schools’ Lottery.
