Lately, two teachers claim that the Governor- backed State Bill 24 looks to increase the rigor in classrooms, increase seat time, and lengthen the school day and year. I think that this proposal is ridiculous. Students are fidgety in school as it is, so why should the school day become longer. Also, our seat time in class is already 90 minutes long in each class, so why make it longer. They shouldn’t also increase the school year in general because half the time in school, we really don’t do much. Even though I don’t like this proposal, I do like the part where they would make school a little more challenging. In my school alone there are maybe only ten teachers that really care about the students and actually teach us something. Most of the rest are just here to collect their paychecks. So overall I am against this proposal.
